Behavior Policies and Agreements

*Don't forget that we have started compartmentalizing our ELA and Math blocks*
  • Reading: We will begin the quarter continuing with Informational Text and learning about Text Structures (sequence and cause&effect). Then we will take a much needed break from Informational text and get back to Literature and study character traits. We will spend some time practicing using Context Clues in our reading. We will compare text on the same topic (think 2 different texts on recycling). Finally we will end the quarter getting back to Literature and learning about Theme and Lessons in a story.
  • Writing: We will be conducting research on specific topics to complete short research papers.
  • Math: (Remember this is with Mr. Willimon) The 3rd quarter will continue the study of Multiplication and Division and introduce Fractions.

  • Science: We will finish studying Matter and then begin studying the Earth's Surface (Landforms).
  • Social Studies: We will integrate Geography in our study of Landforms in Science.

What you can do at home:

  • Encourage your child to read for at least 20 minutes each night.
  • Have your child complete their nightly homework which should be turned in by Friday.
  • Ask your child about CUBES and how it can help with answering math word problems.
  • Encourage your child to use MobyMax, Dreambox, or Lexia at home on a tablet or computer. This is a fun way for them to continue their learning at home!
