Mrs. Olivia Myers

Mrs. Myers

Welcome to my fourth grade class!
My name is Olivia Myers, and I am excited for a great year in fourth grade! This is such an important year in school, so I hope we can partner together to make it the best year yet for your child! When I'm not at school, I love hiking nearby trails, spending time with my family, and painting.

College Attended/ Degrees Earned:
B.A. in Elementary Education and Special Education
M.Ed. in School Counseling

Teaching Experience:
This is my fourth full year at Woodrow Wilson, and I have taught 3rd and 4th grade. I am dual licensed in elementary and special education, and I am also certified in middle grades math and school counseling.

Education Philosophy/Vision:
I am a firm believer that all students deserve to love school and can achieve success here at Woodrow Wilson. I try everyday to make sure that my students love school by letting them know how much I am here for them, giving them opportunities to learn in creative ways, and supporting them to achieve their absolute best.

What are we doing in Mrs. Myers' class for the Fourth Quarter?

Reading and Writing

In writing, we will have finished up our biographies and will begin our focus on free/personal writing for the final quarter. This will consist of time to let the students learn how to write a story of their choice and work on revising and editing skills for a final copy. In Reading, we have finished up our research learning about the Middle Ages and life back then. We will now begin the chapter book The Whipping Boy.

We are finishing our unit on geometry and will be doing a unit on measurement. In geometry we have been learning about attributes of quadrilaterals and triangles as well as measuring angles. In measurement we will focus on solving word problems involving measurement and elapsed time. We will also start to review skills that will be on the EOG.

Social Studies in April will include analyzing the major role North Carolina has played in the state and nation as well as discovering the basic concepts of supply, demand, productivity and entrepreneurship.
